Yet even kids most interested in history will need a break from the monuments and points of interest for awhile. To keep your kids having a great time on your trip, be sure to include some stops and activities that are fun for the young. A trip to Washington DC would not be complete without spending some time at the National Zoo. With over 2,700 animals from 435 different species in gorgeous natural landscapes spanning 163 acres, your family can spend hours exploring the National Zoo. Over twenty percent of the animals on display here are endangered or threatened, giving you the chance to spend time with animals you may not see at other zoos. The zoo is most famous for its two giant pandas that have made national headlines more than once. The National Zoo is open 364 days a year and admission is free to the public. The whole family will get into the action when you visit the International Spy Museum. This is the world's only public museum that is dedicated to espionage. Take in the sights and sounds of the city in a fun way with the DC Ducks tour. This ninety minute tour takes you on an amphibious vehicle to view the city's attractions by both land and water. Along the way, your family will hear interesting narration and see such sights as Union Station, the National Mall, the Washington Monument, and more. It was a good time, the sword fighting towards the end was great. There was smoke and armor and jousting. Very cool.
