Washington, DC, is a city rich in history, and there are many historic homes, sites, and tours that are really fun. Step back into the past with these activities. This 45 acre estate was the home of George and Martha Washington. The estate includes mansion, many outbuildings, trails, greenhouses, gardens, and a four acre working farm. There is so much to see and do. There is a gristmill where you can watch a water wheel grind grain into flour, or attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb of George and Martha Washington. You'll feel like you're traveling back in time as a variety of colonial farming techniques are demonstrated and hands-on activities are available. There is also a museum along with a food court and a variety of shops. With the Mount Vernon and Old Town Alexandria Tour, you'll pass through the historic town of Alexandria on your way to exploring Mount Vernon. Along the way you'll also see The Pentagon and Fort Washington. You could also check out the Mount Vernon / Washington After Dark Combo Tour. With this, you get to explore Mount Vernon all day long, and then in the evening travel back to DC and view all the attractions and landmarks shining brightly in the night sky. In addition to stopping at Mount Vernon, you'll also stop at the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, and others. You'll also enjoy excellent views of many famous attractions from your motor coach including the White House, U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, and more. Enjoy an adventure to Mount Vernon and a beautiful evening in DC with this tour. First built in 1765, the Old Stone House represents ordinary working class citizens. Located in Georgetown, it is believed to be the oldest structure to exist before the creation of the District of Columbia. Though it is modest and is typical of a 18th century middle class home, there are stories of George Washington staying here. Also located in Georgetown, this grand mansion was built by Martha Custis Peter who was the granddaughter of Martha Washington. Intended to be both a monument and home, the building is known as a great example of American neoclassical architecture. The estate remained in the family until the early 80s, and although ownership has changed, estate itself has not. Tudor Place is decorated with luxurious period furnishings and boasts a large collection of art and over 100 artifacts belonging to George and Martha Washington. There are also lavish gardens and a lush landscape. Step back in time with a trip to Tudor Place |

Washington After Dark Tour
Our guide, Douglas, was absolutely wonderful! His insight and the information he shared was magnificent. It was amazing. You could tell he REALLY enjoys his job and takes pride in making sure everyone knows as much as they can about the places we stopped. His favorite - the FDR memorial - was not on my MUST SEE list, but after hearing Douglas' narrations I was extremely impressed. I would love to have ALL my tours with Douglas. He should be commended for his dedication and passion he has for the DC memorials.

Great tour. A really interesting view of the monuments at dusk and after dark. Only the Roosevelt Monument was too dark to appreciate and should be moved to the daytime tours.

The tour was great but Mt Vernon was bombarded with kids from close up, there was a long line to see the mansion. Also I thought that the gardens would be more breathtaking. Overall a very good way to spend 35 dollars.
