The DC The Monuments Tour takes you past all the famed monuments that dot the nation's capital. You'll find no better way to understand the nation's past then by visiting these incredible monuments and experiencing their grandeur and beauty, historical significance and detail. This tour is one of the only ones in the city where the tour guide will actually step off the bus and explore the monuments with you, regaling you with tales of the area's history, legends and more. You begin your three-hour tour with a visit to the Old Post Office, a stunning example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, now protected by the federal government. The second stop on the tour is the US Capitol Building, where the legislative branch of the government conducts business. Next, you will visit the solemn and moving WWII Monument, followed by the immense Jefferson Memorial.
Next, you will move on to the FDR Memorial, before spending time at the sobering Vietnam Memorial. The Lincoln Memorial makes an excellent stop on the tour, letting you get up close to the immense figure of Lincoln and explore the Memorial. The Korean War Memorial and Iwo Jima Memorial are also beautiful, moving stops on your tour. The White House is the last stop before the tour ends back at the Old Post Office.
