The
Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, South Dakota is the world's largest mammoth research facility where you and your family can see an active paleontological dig site. You'll have the chance to view ice age fossils and walk where mamoths, bears, American lions and other animals from the ice age walked.
The site was discovered by accident in 1974 during excavation for a housing development. More than 26,000 years before that, large Columbian and Wooly Mammoths were trapped in a spring fed pond near what is now the edge of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Now, the site is the world's largest Columbian mammoth exhibit. You and your family are sure to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience.
