Since 1906, Matthews Opera House has featured exciting live entertainment in everything from theater performances, Winter Art shows, and gala events.
Matthews Opera House is also home to the Spearfish Arts & Humanities, a not-for-profit organization geared toward providing the public quality arts and humanities entertainment, while preserving the heritage of the opera house.
The opera house was fully restored in 1997, and features touring professional productions, children's shows, university plays, and year-round celebrations.
