Located in the Black Hills of South Dakota,
Crazy Horse Memorial honors the culture and tradition of North American Indians.
In 1948, Sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski and Lakota Chief Henry Standing Bear started Crazy Horse Memorial. Though Crazy Horse Memorial is not yet finished, it is a well recognized memorial that has been visited by many.
The monument, a mountain in the form of an Ogala Lakota warrior named Crazy Horse, has been in progress since its beginning in 1948 and continues to be sculpted. Once finished, it has been said that the monument will be the world's largest sculpture.
