Over a million trail enthusiasts gather in all 50 states, and other areas of the world to explore, learn about, and commemorate their favorite trails on National Trails Day, which takes place the first Saturday in June of each year.
National Trails Day is currently in its 14th year, and is the only annual event to commemorate trails, and provide general environmental education with gear demonstrations, workshops, trail work projects, and more.
Not only is National Trail Day a great chance to properly thank volunteers, land management agencies, and businesses who support the outdoors and help to maintain trails, it's also a perfect day to explore your awareness of the environment, spend quality time with family and friends, and just plain get some good exercise!
Events take place in all 50 states,Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. The first Saturday in June each year is the official day for NTD, but these events can also take place during other times of the year, depending on location.
