Hill City Western Heritage Festival

Hill City Western Heritage Festival celebrates the music, history and cultural heritage of the Black Hills. Voted one of the Top 100 Events in North America, 2008 by the American Bus Association, the event offers music, cowboy poetry, a parade, Western art, games for the kids and horse-related events throughout the festival.

Set in the rugged beauty of the Black Hills, the September shindig allows visitors to journey back to earlier days. Take a ride on the Wine Train, or take in one of the many reenactments, music performances or parades. Horse-drawn rides around the town will be available, as well as Native American and cowboy arts and crafts demonstrations.

Get all gussied up! Guests and participants are encouraged to dress up in Old West gear, and prizes will be awarded throughout the festival for Best Costume. Don't forget the ranch horse competitions, which exhibit the horsemanship and skills that helped settle this once wild territory.
