Deadwood Jam at the Old Style Saloon #10 in Deadwood, SD
The Deadwood Jam, held every year in mid-September, is South Dakota's most popular music festival. The two-day music fest attracts visitors from all over the northwestern US, and features an eclectic mix of jam, rock, and folk performers. This festival is different than other large music events in that it has a very down-home, local feel, and local bands such as Black Hills favorite Violent Hippie are always given as much attention as the larger bands.
Past performers at the Deadwood Jam have included Johnny Lang, The Wallflowers, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Edgar and Johnny Winter. The festival is traditionally held over two days in September, usually on a Friday and Saturday. Tickets can be purchased for one or both days, and start at around $22. Local businesses also attend the festival to sell merchandise, food and drinks. This event is a great opportunity to experience the local vibe of western South Dakota while taking in some great music.
