Winter Activities in the Mount Rushmore, SD Area

trails in the Black Hills. Snowmobiling is an exciting way to explore

areas for easy access, as well as many off-road areas to explore.
The sky's the limit for skiing in the area. Terry Peak is one of the highest points east of the Rocky Mountains, and Deer Mountain offers 25 runs of varying difficulties, and cross-country skiing. Visit the 4 major challenging, cross-country skiing trails and Wilderness Retreat at Black Hills National Forest. Together, the Big Hill, Eagle Cliff, Beaver Creek and Bear Mountain trails cover 66 miles where you can follow the given trails or blaze one of your own. Here, you can also enjoy ice-fishing and snowshoeing. Deer Mountain In Lead, SD. offers a playground of Winter activities, including a Skate Park, Roughrider Tubing Park, a ski school for the beginning skiier, and a whole schedule of fun events like the box-sled cardboard race.
