You can watch a Paleontological dig while you are at the Mammoth Site of Hot Springs.

There is so much history throughout the Mount Rushmore area for everyone's vacation plans. You will get so much pleasure experiencing all the history in the many museums, monuments and tours the area has to offer.

For instance, Mammoth Site, which is located in Hot Springs, is the world's largest mammoth research facility. Visitors actually observe an active excavation or dig site first hand and view ice age fossils as they are found. They are open year round.

Also for your history filled vacation, there is the Presidents Park in the beautiful Black Hills. Visitors stroll along the tastefully gardened trails to view the astounding 20 foot tall bust statues of the 42 presidents, along with other artistic monuments all year long.

The Adams House in Deadwood is a fully restored Queen Anne style Victorian mansion. The house is fully furnished with all its original artifacts and furnishings, along with its family photos and journals. Then there is Matthews Opera House, located in Spearfish, first opened in 1906 as the setting for stage productions and traveling shows through the 1930s. It is the centerpiece of the Spearfish Arts Center and is again an ongoing scene of live theater, concerts and art events.
