Wounded Knee: The Museum
The Wounded Knee Museum will show you the real story behind Wounded Knee.
The Black Hills are a sacred place for the Native American peoples, and you'll learn of their story in, and influence on, South Dakota at this fascinating museum. There may be no better place than the Wounded Knee Museum for a realistic understanding of what the Native Americans faced during their struggles with the United States during the late 1800s. At this museum, you'll follow the story of the Lakota people through the fateful Wounded Knee massacre on December 29, 1890.
Their story is told through newspaper reports, movies, photographs, eye-witness accounts, graphics and additional exhibits. It's a part of American history that none of us should forget.
