The Texas State Book Depository was made famous during the alleged assassination of US President John F. Kennedy. It is now referred to as The Sixth Floor Museum and is located in what is now the Dallas County Administration Building.
When visiting this museum you will find a historical exhibition of the life, legacy, and death of President John F. Kennedy. There is a strong focus on the impact of his death with both the nation and the world. This is illustrated and documented by nearly 400 photographs. You will also be given the opportunity to view documentary films that will last for approximately 45 minutes.
There are two different areas which are associated with President Kennedy's alleged assassination. These are preserved and include the sniper's perch of Lee Harvey Oswald. This area is preserved and sealed off behind glass. The original window from the assassination is also preserved behind glass.
There are many artifacts for you to see. They include the model of Dealey Plaza used by the Warren Commission which was made by the FBI, the Zapruder camera, and many different personal items from the Kennedy years.
The topics that will be discussed during the tours include the early 1960's, and the events of November 22-25, l963. You will also learn about major investigations and the capture of Lee Harvey Oswald. Finally they will discuss the response of the world and the legacy of President John F. Kennedy.
