Built in 1948, the Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth was founded as a state of the art movie theater which soon went on to become one of the most prominent artistic landmarks in this region. The theater which is owned by the RK Maulsby Family Trust was converted into a movie / dinner theater with the advent and rising popularity of the multiplexes.
However the theater shut down after a couple of years due to a dismal fall in audiences and stayed that way for a period of three years until Richard Van Zandt and Wesley Hathaway leased the theater in 1998 to present Richard's exceptional and ground-breaking laser light shows. It was then that the Ridglea Theater was then transformed into live concert hall which presented its first musical performance in 1999, on account of the insufficient revenues which these shows earned.
Today, the theater is one of the premier concert venues in this region with magnificent size and up to the minute technology. The theater hosts performances by many local and regional bands and has also been drawing the attention of national and international performers like Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Ministry and Willie Nelson. The theater has also been bestowed with the title of the 'Best Rock Venue' by the FW Weekly Readers' Choice.
The 23,000 square foot theater still retains its old world charm with a splendid staircase leading up to the huge balcony. You can even host your private parties or celebrations at the Ridglea Theater for a one of a kind, memorable experience.
