The city of Grapevine in Fort Worth, Texas is a city that has plenty of visitors and lots of attractions and good food and drink to offer them. If you are staying in Grapevine on location or if you are at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention center as a convention member, make sure you take advantage of what the resort has to offer.
The resort is a lakeside one and its chief restaurant is situated there. The Old Hickory Steakhouse is part of the hotel complex and is situated in an area that replicates the outdoors quite cleverly, being situated in a landscaped atrium. Part of this atrium is a replica of the San Antonio River Walk. Sit by the lakeside at Gaylord's signature restaurant and enjoy fine wines, fine food and great service. The restaurant is fitted out in Texas Rancho style, making it a place of comfort and elegance. The dining room has an open plan kitchen although it is not easy to see the chefs at work here. The large space is broken up by a series of archways. The food is great and the menu has a full range of beef cuts for true aficionados. Flavors are subtle rather than overpowering and the moderately priced wine list has a lot of choices on offer.
The restaurant has a new chef and this has recently won the media critics guide in the annual Texas shootout of the ten most wanted grilling contest and charity fund raiser.
