National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame
National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is an absolute must-see when you are in the Fort Worth, Texas area. Located in the cultural district area of the city near Will Rogers Memorial Center, your paid admission to the Cowgirl Museum also include entrance to the Fort Worth Science Museum, so you essentially get two great museums for the price of one.
Over 150 women who embody the spirit of the American West are highlighted in this delightful museum. They were not just cowgirls literally but also teachers, ranchers, writers, artists and more. You can learn more about each of these women and what they contributed not only to women but also to the culture of their time.
Approximately 7,000 photographs and artifacts are on display at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. You will discover the courageousness of female pioneers, ranchers, rodeo stars and more and admire their spirit through watching film clips, listening to sound recordings and viewing different displays and exhibits.
One of the most interesting parts of the National Cowgirl Museum is the Bronc Riding exhibit. You can take a ride on a bucking bronc, simulated of course, where your experience is captured on video and then superimposed on old rodeo footage. It will seem that you are actually a rodeo participant! There is even an opportunity to purchase that footage for you.
All in all, adults and children alike will enjoy the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. If you have never been a real fan of history, you soon will be because this history lesson on cowgirls comes alive!
