Lake Arlington in Arlington, TX
Lake Arlington, situated on the western side of Arlington, is a 2,275-acre where you can enjoy a variety of water-based activities such as boating, sailing, water skiing or fishing.It is a popular location for family picnics, BBQs and wildlife-viewing. There are two parks on the eastern shore of the lake, Richard Simpson Park (to the north) and Bowman Springs Park (to the south). Both parks have BBQ and picnic areas, restrooms and 50-seat pavilions for hire. Bowman Springs Park also has a playground and basketball court. The Lake Arlington Meeting Room in Richard Simpson Park can be reserved for private functions and weddings, and holds up to 75 people. Facilities include a kitchen area, tables and chairs, and restrooms, and can be hired for either a half or full day. Eugene McCray Park is situated on the lake's western shore and has picnic areas and restrooms. Access to the lake itself is from the three parks. Both Richard Simpson and Bowman Springs Parks have eight-lane ramps, and Eugene McCray Park has a two-lane ramp. They are open all year, and launching a boat here requires a permit available on a daily ($5) or annual basis ($25). Discounts are available for seniors. Arlington Yacht Club is situated on the north-eastern shore and has a program of events throughout the year. The lake is a popular location for angling (a state fishing license is required) and is well-stocked with fish such as Largemouth Bass, Hybrid striped bass, White Bass, Crappie and Channel Catfish.
