Located at Montgomery Street in Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History first opened their doors to the public in 1945, with two exhibit-filled rooms in De Zavala Elementary School.
Today, the museum welcomes over a million visitors every year and is considered by many to be one of the most extraordinary learning environments in the city. With the Fort Worth Museum currently undergoing renovation, you can view some of their most popular exhibits at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. The museum's future plans, which are scheduled to be unveiled in 2009, include the interactive CSI: The Experience exhibit, which combines hands-on learning about science with the thrill of solving a crime.
The Omni Theater, which boasts of cutting edge sound and light technology, showcases a number of educational programs which include the immensely popular Deep Sea program comprising of close-up encounters with rare and exotic underwater species. Yet another favorite, the Dinosaurs Alive program takes you back in time to the pre-historic era as you listen to a captivating narrative by Michael Douglas. Young minds can also participate in the gamut of educational programs and activities that the Museum School has to offer, which include interactive workshops and educational games.
Educators can also plan field trips in tandem with the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History to avail of the Museum's years of expertise or even have the museum come to their very own premises with the outreach programs.
