A national historic landmark, Fair Park Dallas is home to the state fair along with many musical venues and museums.
Some of the many attractions to this site include:
- African American Museum, the only such museum of its kind in the Southwest. Here, historians work to preserve African American works of art and culture. Visitors can see one of the largest collections of African American folk art in the country.
- Museum of the American Railroad, a real winner for the kids especially.
- Dallas Aquarium, home to thousands of fish and aquatic reptiles and mammals. The staff there encourages visitors to come at 2:30 each afternoon, when crowds gather to enjoy spectating the animal feedings.
No one ever goes hungry at Fair Park, especially not with Cafe Max and The Old Mill Inn. At the latter, theater fans can enjoy a murder mystery with their burger if they come on the weekend- a must visit for history and mystery buffs alike.
Perhaps the biggest attraction has to be the annual Texas State Fair, which can be visited from annually from September 29 - October 22.
