Benbrook Lake, the major body of water in Benbrook, is actually a reservoir located off US 377 in Tarrant County, 10 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Texas right where the West Fork of the Trinity River and Clear Fork meet. Benbrook Lake was formed in 1952 and in impounded by the Benbrook Dam, which was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also own and operate Benbrook Lake.
The surface area of this beautiful lake is 3,635 acres with a maximum depth of 70 feet. There have been many record-size fish caught in this lake for years, with more being stocked regularly. Some of the more popular fish you'll find in this lake are large mouth bass, white & hybrid striped bass, crappie and blue & channel catfish.
Because this lake is so large, there are a few different public access facilities available for people wishing to fish on this lake. All but Benbrook Marina are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. All buy Longhorn Park charge a fee to use their facilities.
Benbrook Marina, which is open year round, has two boat lanes; is privately owned and has parking for 75 vehicles.
Holiday Park has five lanes with three boat ramps and room for parking of 50 vehicles. This access is not recommended when the lake is at low water level. Mustang Park, also opened year round, has 5 lanes with four ramps and room for 38 vehicles to park.
Rocky Creek Park has 3 lanes and two ramps for the public and one multi-lane private ramp, which is at the marina. Rocky Creek Park is open year round with the park operated by the Corps of Engineers and the marina privately owned.
Longhorn Park has parking for only 11 vehicles with a two lanes that service any type of boat.
North Holiday Day Use Area has room for 75 vehicles to park, three boat ramps and four lanes.
