Fans of the Dallas TV series undoubtedly remember this locale. The Southfork Ranch was where the Ewings lived and where hundreds of thousands of viewers visited each week to stay current with the exciting lives of these characters.

Put on that cowboy hat and practice your "Howdys." The sprit of history flows through the beautiful, modern city of Dallas. This city is the heart of the popular image of Texas. As a major center for the oil and gas industries, Dallas goes about its business with a refreshing swagger! Modern buildings will stun any architecture fan and a visit is not complete without taking in a Dallas Cowboys game!

History in Dallas

  • There is not a more entertaining way to discover the history of Dallas than through the interactive tour Historic Dallas. Visitors will learn plenty and laugh hard as they come face to face with some of the city's historic residents--gunslingers, bank robbers, even marauding Indians may make appearances during this tour.
  • John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza portrays the continuing respect in Dallas for the fallen young president. A JFK Historical tour will guide visitors along the historical path of John F. Kennedy's assassination.

Dallas the Television Show

  • Continuing along the 'partial fantasy' path, visitors will certainly happen upon the legend of the Ewing Family. A Downtown Dallas and Southfork Ranch Tour will take their guests from the charms of the modern-day city to the mansion and memorabilia of that eighties television show that took it's name from the amazing city. (Including the 'gun that shot JR.')

Family Entertainment in Dallas

  • Dallas boasts not one, but two Six Flags amusement parks, the Dallas Zoo, and The Cananaugh Flight Museum as some of their favorite attractions. Old City Park is a historical village filled with Victorian-era homes, a log house, bank, and other restore structures. A fun educational exhibit is the 1860's Living Farmstead.

Fun in Fort Worth

  • Dallas's 'twin city', Fort Worth is a short ride away and worthy of exploration in it's own right. The Stockyards still hold daily cattle drives down cobblestone streets. The "Wow Town" walking tour guides visitors throughout the city including stops at the Stockyards, Sundance Square and Fort Worth's downtown cultural district. Another tour option is the Fort Worth Stockyards and Rodeo, which gives visitors an opportunity to experience a real rodeo.

Young or old, a trip to the American West is incomplete without a stay in Dallas. Who knows, you may just find a way to strike oil and start your own dynasty! The chances to learn and have fun in Dallas are as endless as your imagination! Just don't ask the locals "Who shot J.R.?"
