For two of the largest cities in Texas, Dallas and Ft. Worth are pretty easily navigated. Though public transportation is available in the area, driving is a more popular method for visitors to get around.
MAJOR HIGHWAYS IN DALLAS - FORT WORTH
- Major highways that run into the Dallas/Fort Worth area are State Highway 183 (also known as the Airport Freeway), State Highway 114, Interstate Highway 635, Interstate 35, Interstate 30, Interstate 20 and Interstate 45.
- Dallas and Fort Worth are linked by I-20 and I-30. The LBJ Freeway (I-635) circles Dallas and I-820 loops around Fort Worth.
DALLAS - FORT WORTH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
- The Dallas/Fort Worth area is serviced by Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (airport code: DFW). The airport is serviced by the majority of the major airlines including Delta, AirTran, Air Canada, America West, American, Midwest, Northwest, United, ATA, American Eagle and more.
- The airport offers gift shops, restaurants, currency exchange and on-site car rental. Taxi and limo service are available at the terminal entrances.
- DFW houses a 200-acre car rental complex to meet the car rental needs of travelers. The center is home to 10 rental car agencies including Avis, Advantage, Budget, Alamo, Dollar, Enterprise, E-Z, Hertz, National and Thrifty. There are over 5,000 rental cars total in the complex.
DALLAS LOVE FIELD AIRPORT
- The area is also served by Love Field Airport (airport code: DAL) located in Dallas. This airport is the home of Southwest Airlines but offers service from other airlines as well. The airport offers on-site car rentals as well as an aviation museum.
TRINITY RAILWAY EXPRESS IN DALLAS - FORT WORTH
- The Trinity Railway Express serves the Dallas/Fort Worth area with stations located at Union Station, Medical/Market Center, South Irving, West Irving, Hurst/Bell, Richland Hills, ITC and T&P.
