Beautiful sights and campgrounds await you at Kaibab(pronounced 'kI-"bab) National Forest, which sits on the north and south side of the Grand Canyon. Split by a large ravine, each side drastically contrast each other: the North Kaibab is desert-like and the South Kaibab features the alpine slopes of Kendrick's Peak.
"Kaibab" is a Paiute Indian word that translates to "mountain lying down." This beautiful forest area is the gateway to the Grand Canyon's National Park's north rim and home to some of the Southwest's most intact and extensive remaining old growth forest.
