Bright Angel History Room in the Grand Canyon, AZ is quite a treat housed within the Bright Angel Lodge located along the South Rim of
Grand Canyon National Park. The lodge itself was built back in the mid 1930's using natural pine logs and stone native to the South Rim area of the Grand Canyon. There are also rustic cabins on the premises as well.
The Bright Angel Lodge's History Room was established in the late 1960's and features quite a few pieces of memorabilia as well as history of the area. One of the most prominent people in the late 1800's was Fred Harvey who was responsible for establishing many dining places along the railroad routes. Some of the history of this man as well as his business pursuits is displayed here in the history room.
An actual carriage is on display at the Bright Angel History Room as well as a variety of pictures, menus, dining place ware and more. While not luxurious, the lodge itself is quite comfortable with just the basics in amenities at half the price of others nearby. The total unpretentiousness of the lodge is what makes the Bright Angel History Room such a delight to find here. It is quite interesting to tour the room and learn more about the area and what influences have shaped it into what it is today.
The Bright Angel History Room offers souvenirs and even postcards for sale as a memento of your time at the Grand Canyon. Best of all, there is no admission charge to view the room.
