Williams Clean & Beautiful Fall Clean-up Day
Every now and then, the city of Williams, Arizona will hold a "Clean & Beautiful Clean-Up Day" to encourage residents and visitors to help pick up litter and refuse left behind by tourists. Williams is the main gateway city for visitors to the Grand Canyon - and though many tourists are respectful of the city and its environment, the fact that Williams is heavily trafficked often leaves it littered in trash. Residents meet on these clean-up days at the Williams and Forest Service Visitor Center at 9AM for coffee and breakfast, and then clean up litter until noon, when a group cookout lunch is held.
To inspire attendees to pick up more litter, city workers place Easter eggs in with the litter that contain certificates for money and prizes. The more litter someone picks up, the better chance they have of finding an egg and winning cash or a gift certificate! If you would like to attend one of these clean-up events, please contact the City of Williams to see when the next one is happening.
