Navajo County Fair at Petrified National Forest near the Grand Canyon, AZ

The annual Navajo County Fair and Rodeo, held every September in Holbrook, Arizona, is one of the biggest and best county fairs in the country. The Grand Canyon Professional Rodeo Association has voted the event to be "Rodeo of the Year" several times. Started in the 1930s, this event has something for everyone to enjoy. The five-day fair features traditional carnival rides and games, Junior Miss and Rodeo Queens pageants for girls, a demolition derby, 4-H exhibits, an antique tractor show, and live music. Food vendors from around the area participate as well, giving visitors a taste of classic Southwestern cuisine.

The rodeo at the fair has attracted over 600 contestants in recent years, and features all traditional rodeo events and then some. The Little Buckaroo Rodeo Events allow aspiring young rodeo competitors to try some events, and the Ranch Horse competition gives local ranchers the chance to show off their best and brightest horses. Thousands of people attend the county fair every year.  Holbrook is located quite close to both the Grand Canyon and the Petrified National Forest, so a trip to the Navajo County Fair and Rodeo can be a fun respite from sightseeing. Please contact the fair directly for specific info about this year's dates, events, and ticket prices.
