Known as the "Greatest Site Under the Smokies," Tuckaleechee Caverns is a geological wonder located just 20 miles from Gatlinburg in Townsend, Tennessee. The caverns hold a rich history, and served as an important shelter and hiding spot for Cherokee Indians until settlers moved into the area and discovered the caverns in the mid-19th century.
Inside the caverns, you'll see beautiful rainy season wonders, including Wet Weather Falls, as well as geological formations. The Toothpick is a unique and fragile stalagmite that stretches 12 feet into the cavern air - despite being just six inches wide! Tuckaleechee Caverns tours operate throughout the week with special rates for children.
