Nicknamed "The Peaceful Side of the Smokies," Townsend, Tennessee offers lots for visitors to do and see surrounded by the picturesque Smoky Mountains and a good place to start is the Townsend Visitor's Center. If you want to really get a feel for the local flavor, go to the Townsend Visitor's Center where you can watch arts and crafts demonstrations. Craftspeople such as basket weavers, woodworkers and driftwood artists are there to show you some Smoky Mountain art. You might even want to pick up a little piece for yourself to take home.
