Smoky Mountain visitors looking for a tranquil, unpopulated area to enjoy a picnic lunch, incredible views, and great hike need to look no further than the Hen Wallow Falls in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
A moderate-rated 2.5-mile trail leads to a 45-foot waterfall that is typically less crowded than other falls in the park. The incredible waterfalls is just two feet wide at the summit before fanning out to a twenty-foot width at the bottom.
The hike to the falls will take visitors through a beautiful dense hemlock & poplar forest that features plenty of scenic views. Once at the falls, the main trail will take guests to the top of the falls, while a steep, narrow trail will lead visitors who don't mind a bit of a challenge down to the incredible base. To get to the trail, follow the road to Cosby Campground to just before the picnic area.
