Gatlinburg, Tennessee is home to three major arts and crafts each year, one of which is the Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts Show held during the November holiday each year. The show is held in the Gatlinburg Convention Center in downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Admission to the Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts Show and all of the other shows are always free. Donations are encouraged as any proceeds will be donated to local charities.
Gatlinburg is nationally known for arts and crafts coming from this area. The artists in the Smoky Mountain area create an earthy style of artwork which is loved by many. People come from many miles to attend the shows each year to see new creations and maybe a new artist.
The art show gives local artists and craftspeople an opportunity to showcase their work. Aisles of booths make up the exhibits with demonstrations and displays to give people an opportunity to view and purchase goods from the local artists and craftspeople. Jewelry, pottery, leather and candy are just some of the high quality crafts bound to be seen at the show. The timing of the festival gives people an opportunity to pick up some seasonal holiday items or even some Christmas gifts.
The craft shows are part of Tennessee tradition and history with the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community founded in 1937. The surrounding area has grown to feature a high concentration of artists and crafts people with more than 80 studios, galleries and shops within an eight mile radius.
