Bicentennial Stamp Cancellation Day in Gatlinburg, TN

Continuing the city's fantastic Bicentennial Celebration is the stamp cancellation commemorative event. Stamp collectors across the country are excited at the prospect of getting the Vern Hippensteal designed commemorative postage stamp, with a specially designed cancellation postmark, and corresponding Bicentennial envelope to mark the occasion.

Opening ceremonies begin at the Parkway Welcome Center, where the logo will be presented to the public. Small fees apply to the purchase of the postage stamp itself, but the city is offering cancellation for free throughout the event. Collectors throughout the country are expected to convene en masse to take part in memorializing the city's first mail station.
