For almost three months during the winter season Gatlinburg becomes adorned with over 3 million lights as they celebrate the Annual Gatlinburg Winter Magic. Be sure to make it to the Winterfest Kick-Off, too, which is held right in front of Ripley's Aquarium. Your tastebuds will be inudated with the hottest, spiciest, and exotic chili recipes from all around Tennessee at the Kick-Off during the annual statewide Chili Cook-Off. You will also be able to vote for the best chili, best booth presentation, and other awards, so come with an empty stomach and a keen eye!

The town also offers a Winterfest Trolley Ride which will take you throughout the whole city and let you see and hear the Christmas spirit expressed by the citizens. Also, if you are in the romantic spirit, come during the Valentine season as the city also decorates for this special time of celebrating true love.
