Moose Hollow Lodge is a 9 room cabin near Pigeon Forge. It can comfortably sleep 54 and even has a 20 seat movie theatre!

Scavenger hunts through Great Smoky Mountains National Park are not only a great way to hike through one of the most beautiful parks in the world, but also to find out hidden natural and historic treasures. Families will enjoy the easy going nature of the hike, all while having a fun goal, which is to be able to find as many landmarks in the park as possible. However, a guide to all the landmarks is somewhat necessary for this, and the Scavenger Hike Adventures & Mountain Journal is the best available.

Hidden Away
The park features over 70 miles of trails, all of which have many sights that the average hiker would miss, knowing where and what they are makes the trip infinitely more enjoyable. The book features over a dozen trails, all of which have an associated difficulty rating and are filled with hidden treasures of the park.

Hiking through the park, a traveler might miss the homes of some pioneers, which may be disregarded as just another rock. Closer inspection will reveal however that these giant rock houses were used as shelter by several pioneers throughout the years, providing important shelter during their travels. With guide in hand, travelers can discover a 120 year old cabin, ready to explore. More natural wonders include bear tracks set in concrete from when the trails were first formed, and powerful, hidden waterfalls.

Family Fun
Scavenger hunts are games at heart, which makes it easy for families to keep children (and themselves) interested in the educational opportunities of the hike. The guide features points associated to each of over 200 hidden gems of the park, allowing every member of the family to tally up their score at the end.

Nearby Comfort
After a long day of hiking through the park looking for ancient Native American paths and magical landscapes, it is nice to relax in a close and comfortable place to bed down for the night. The following are some of the more cozy accommodations offered, closest to the trails.

  • Hickory Mist Luxury Cabins offer a wide variety for their price, from mountain chalets to secluded cottages. 24 hour concierge service means traveler's can spend time away from the trails relaxing instead of running errands.
  • Rocky Waters Inn is an affordable option that offers riverfront hotel rooms and a convenient location right in downtown Gatlinburg.
  • Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort is only two miles from the park and features indoor pools, whirlpools, and more to help guests relax when not on the trails. The onsite restaurant is an excellent way to save travel time.

Hickory Mist Luxury Cabins - Gatlinburg, TN
This was advertised as Luxury cabins. Some of them were and some are just park model homes. They are clean and fully serviced which was nice. But you had to drive about 6-8 miles to the cabins from where you check in.
