Gatlinburg Attractions, Activities, & Entertainment For Everyone

The Fast and the Furious
The Fast and the Furious
See The Fast and the Furious Mitsubishi Eclipse and the 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline both at the same time at the Star Cars Museum.

At the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, you'll find Gatlinburg.  This little mountain resort town is nestled into the high mountains, right between the great outdoors and Pigeon Forge.  Which means that there are a whole lot of adventures to be uncovered by a wide variety of personalities.

The Great Outdoors Enthusiast
The traveler who seeks adventure by heeding the call of the wild!

  • Of course, the Smokies beckon to these personalities and offer their trails for hiking.  And if a walk through the wilderness appears "tame" to our great adventurers, there is always the whitewater rafting. Ocoee Rafting offers the choice of several tours to fit all experience levels--and the Ocoee River was chosen as the site for the 1996 Olympic Whitewater Competition.  Nantahala Rafting offers an 8-mile, guide-assisted tour, and The Big Pigeon River Rafting Tour offers both challenging and relaxing runs.

The Serious Tourist
The vacationer who catches every show, attends every event, and still stosp to see the world's largest ball of twine on the drive home

  • Don't miss the Guinness World of Records Museum where there are many displays that range from the super-cool (The BATMOBILE!) to the--um, downright odd?   The Serious Tourist will then head over to the Star Cars Museum, where famous cars (The GENERAL LEE!) and cars owned by famous people are on display (Elvis, Frank Sinatra...).  And dinner reservations have already been made at Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede, where music, down-home cooking, and entertainment make for an exciting evening.  Tomorrow's game plan?  Dollywood, of course!

The Shop-a-holic
No further definition needed - You know who you are!

  • Gatlinburg boasts over 400 specialty shops and is proud to claim the nation's largest community of independent artisans with the Great Smoky Mountains Arts & Crafts Community.   This personality will discover the outlet malls in Pigeon Forge, and, quite likely, a street fair or craft show.

Of course, there are more personality types than mentioned.  Rest assured, Gatlinburg caters to all.
