Dollywood features a variety of rides, including thrill, water, family and children's rides. This is a picture of Daredevil Falls, a thrill ride and boat expedition ending with a 60-foot drop.

Time to make plans for the Pigeon Forge annual A Mountain Quiltfest! The festival has drawn more than 20,000 quilters in past years, with this year expected to be the biggest and best ever. Top quilters not only teach master classes while at the festival, but also compete with the best in the world in a number of categories. Activities to be included are:

Antique Quilt Bed Turning

  • From the lobby of the Music Road Hotel Convention Center, visitors will able to witness bed turning from a variety of quilts made before 1950. The Piecemakers and Sevier Valley Quilters Guilds will be narrating the bed turning and providing historical background information.

Quiltfest Challenge

  • Each year, participants receive packets of information, a theme, and fabric to produce a quilt for the next year's challenge. This year the competition is going to really heat up, as these quilters have been working hard for the past year to win the $1,000 grand prize. The winner is also entered into the permanent Quiltfest collection of fine quilts.

Quilt Appraisal

  • Joyce Harvill, will be joining A Mountain Quiltfest for the first time as the festivals first quilt appraiser. Joyce has 16 years of experience and was certified in 1992, and will be answering any and all questions regarding the value of your quilts.

Lectures and Meals

  • The Beautiful Old Mill Pottery House CafĂ© will be offering lectures and meals throughout the Quiltfest event. Each night of the event, a different lecturer will focus on a different quilt topic, all while featuring a distinct meal appropriate to the lecture.

The quilts will be shown at one of two locations, either the Smoky Mountain Convention Center or the Music Road Hotel Convention Center. Admission is free, so there really is not a reason to attend while on a vacation to Dollywood, which is only 1 mile away. Try some of these fine hotels while on the trip to A Mountain Quiltfest.

Spent the better part of the day here. Many shops and rides to please all. Close to were the cabin was located was another plus.

Dollywood
My family loves to go Dollywood and the water park . It has something for everyone. We go down and visit every other year. I just hate to leave because there so much to do there and the surrounding area. Go there start having fun.

Pretty nice place. Every room has a balcony. We really liked the privacy provided between the two beds by having the bathroom and sink area between them. Very nice when travelling with young children. The biggest drawback was that the pool was across the street as was the front desk but it was not too inconvenient. All the staff were very nice.
