Raft & Rail Nantahala River
The Nantahala River cuts its way through the mountains and the railroad tracks follow the course of the river, and is ideal for families or couple. You'll start your trip aboard the Smoky Mountain Railway, as it winds its way down the mountainside, following the happily splashing river. Enjoy the scenic views as you tour the amazing area, surrounded in mountain splendor. The rail trip terminates with a hike down to the river, through amazing natural beauty. Wear appropriate clothing for your trip and prepare to get wet in this amazing river.
Your 8 mile rafting trip gets off with a splash, as you embark on a watery adventure. You'll thrill to the whitewater rapids and the gorgeous scenery, as you raft past enormous boulders, sheer cliff faces and serene stretches of the Nantahala River. The gorge, itself is one of the largest attractions in the area, hosting thousands of tourists each year. During your rafting trip, you'll enjoy a buffet style lunch and relax for a little while, before heading back out again. After your rafting trip is done, you can embark again on another trip, or catch a ride on the train back to your car and accommodations for a little well earned R&R.
