The East Beach at Galveston, TX is one of the largest and most widely used beaches in Texas. As with all the beaches in Texas, the East Beach is a very clean beach, probably due to the Galveston Park Board cleaning their beaches daily.
The East Beach Park provides a great chance for all you birdwatchers as well as many indoor activities to keep you hopping. If the weather isn't cooperative for the outdoor bar and pavilion, there's an indoor snack bar, gift shop and game room. The volleyball courts are not only well maintained, but large enough for many bystanders to watch the competitive games. If you're there on the weekend, you won't want to miss their concerts and live music. Whether it's listening to the music or dancing, you'll find it a very romantic setting.
You'll never be at a loss for things to do, as there are many tourist attractions nearby such as Seawolf Park, Rosenberg Library, Texas Seaport Museum, Railroad Museum, Bishop's Palace and Moody Mansion to name just a few. Some of these are just sightseeing sites, but others other pavilions, picnic sites, playgrounds as well as fine dining. East Beach also allows alcohol consumption, unlike many of the other beaches.
If you're thinking of staying for an extended amount of time, you'll find some elegant beachfront condominiums available to make your stay more comfortable. If condominiums aren't what you need, numerous hotels can be spotted in every direction, all closely located so you won't have far to walk for that morning swim.
