Manatee Park in Fort Myers, Florida is located on State Road 80. Visitors can use the facilities for many outdoor activities. The location is the winter home for the Florida Manatee, although you may see them sometimes come in during the warmer months. You can call and check on the status of the location of the manatee prior to visiting, if you like. In addition to providing this benefit, the location is also the home of a variety of native plants and butterflies. These are able to be visited throughout the year. There are also picnic areas as well as shelters to use for your recreational needs.
The Manatee Park offers more fun things to do. There is a fishing cove located here and a pier both of which are on the Orange River. Visitors can launch their canoe or kayak from these locations into the river. There is also a playground for children and an amphitheater that is ideal for programs, special events and more. The location is fully accessible but no pets are allowed within.
The park opened in 1996 and is on a total of 17 acres within the Regional Park area. The land itself is owned by the Florida Power and Light Company, various other companies and organizations have helped to fund the park and recreation there.
