Built in 1992, the City of Palms Park in Fort Myers is a beautiful Florida style stadium, which has also been the spring-training venue for the legendary Boston Red Sox since 1993.
The palm tree lined grandstand boasts of a capacity to seat an audience of up to 6,990. The two sections, that containing the box seats and is closest to where the action's at and the other section which contains the bleachers are separated by a concourse. The grandstand is partially covered and two-thirds of the seats have a roof above them. The main concourse area, located under the seating contains numerous concession stands and an interesting gift shop where you can buy souvenirs and apparel that make great gift ideas.
The complex is also home to a 9,000 square foot visiting team clubhouse and four enclosed batting tunnels. Designed by HOK Sport who is also the architect for many other pro stadiums in the country, the stadium is also used by the Gulf Coast Rookie League's Red Sox. You will also find a statue of Ted Williams which depicts him presenting a cap to a Jimmy Fund kid in the Ted Williams Plaza. The facilities also include administrative offices, three executive booths and complete media facilities.
Prices here do tend to run on the high side, with a bottle of water costing you about $4.75. However, if you're a die-hard Red Sox fan who is looking for a great opportunity to cheer this team to victory, then the City of Palms Park is just the place you're headed.
