A relaxing day amid the flora and fauna of Florida awaits visitors to the Secret Woods Nature Center, a 37-acre park that features two easy nature trails along shaded boardwalks. The New River Trail winds through an oak hammock and over a swamp wetland, while the Laurel Oak Trail offers an atmospheric walk through the jungle-like growth that thrives under the dense canopy of hardwood oaks.
Both trails provide opportunities for close-up looks at the mangroves, small animals, and wading birds that populate the park. Kids will enjoy hunting for the stages of the butterfly life cycle in the Butterfly Scavenger Hunt, or learning about endangered animals in a guided trail walk. An Exhibit Building features interactive displays, informative computer games, and a collection of small animals to enjoy.
