Since 1967 the Parker Playhouse, now managed by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, has been providing the Fort Lauderdale community with a full schedule of plays, musicals, concerts, and educational programming in their 1100-seat theater. A diverse programming schedule offers something for everyone, from rollicking Broadway musicals to classic children's pieces like Wind in the Willows and Charlotte's Web.
A concert series features renowned composers and entertainers like Marvin Hamlisch, as well as revues of classic songwriters like Irving Berlin. Visitors should call for current offerings, which at any given moment may include acrobatic groups, illusionists, educational science theatre, and unique dance troupes.
