Old Dillard Art and Cultural Museum in Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Old Dillard Art and Cultural Museum is housed in the 1924 building once known as Dillard High School, Broward County's first high school for African-Americans. The historic two-story Mission-style structure has been restored as a landmark reflecting the area's struggle for equal education, and features educational exhibits that explore local history and the African-American experience. Displays include African artifacts such as tribal masks, jewelry, and art. Visitors should stop by the thatched hut of the Museum's storyteller for fascinating first-hand tales of Africa.
