Hortt Memorial Exhibition & Competition near Fort Lauderdale, FL
Named for South Florida art collector M. Allen Hortt, the annual Hortt Memorial Exhibition & Competition enjoyed a forty-year tenure at the Museum of Art, where the works of the area's artists hung side by side with the works of Picasso, Dali, and Rembrandt. Now hosted by the Broward Art Guild, the event is the oldest juried art competition in the region. South Florida artists vie for numerous awards, as well as the recognition of critics, gallery owners, and the media. Visitors are welcome to the exhibition, which features everything from watercolors to sculpture to installation art.
