The Gallerie Luministe is located in the Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale. It is one of the foremost galleries dedicated to popular and commercial artist, Thomas Kinkade. He is the self-styled 'Painter of Light' and is regarded as one of the most collected artists in the country. He is renowned for his prolific artwork, and has created a number of collections featuring gardens, holidays, scenes from the sea and a variety of landscapes. His pieces all feature his hallmark of sweeping light across the picture.
The Californian-born artist developed his style following a commission by the Ralph Bakshi Studio to created art for an animated film entitled Fire and Ice. He has received many awards, both for his art and his humanitarian work, including recognition as the 'Most Award Winning Artist in the Past 25 Years.' He is a national spokesperson for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and his '20 Years of Light Tour' has raised in over $350,000 for the organization. He has been inducted into the California Tourism Hall of Fame to mark his success, and in recognition of the influence his work has had on the public's perception of California. He was also chosen to commemorate two important sporting events in 2002 - the World Series and Salt Lake City Olympics.
The Gallerie Luministe features original pieces by Thomas Kinkade alongside limited edition prints, canvases and collectibles. The gallery also has a portfolio of other artists displaying artwork. The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10.00am- 6.00pm and Sunday Noon-6.00pm.
