It takes all kinds of people, literally, to make the antiques world go 'round. There are serious professionals and collectors who look on rare and unique items as a business. There are collectors and aficionados who put almost as much effort into finding and collecting antiques, though it's not a full-time business for them. Then, of course, there are lookers and other interested parties who might buy a piece or, they might not.
But one thing many of these folks have in common is a trip to Fort Lauderdale Antiques World, a gathering of 200 or more antiques dealers from the U.S., from Canada and from Europe. Hosted by the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Fort Lauderdale Antiques World features dealers who offer the finest in antique furniture, art, jewellery and many other items. One of the key attractions is a series of room displays featuring beautiful old furniture. This display is quite a drawing card for designers and decorators from around the world. The Holiday Antiques Show is set for December 28-30.
Nearby, Dania antique shopping district is also a tremendous attraction for those in the antiques field. The district features several dozen antique dealers and antique shops that solidify Fort Lauderdale as an antiques destination. Add to this the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum, complete with 22 Packard cars from the first half of the 1900s, and you have an area that attracts thousands of visitors each year. This world-class display is housed in an 18,000-square-foot building. Whether your interest is in furniture, crystal, cars, or something more unusual, Fort Lauderdale Antiques World should be a great stop.
