When Dr. D. James Kennedy arrived in 1959, the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church was barely there with only forty-five people in its congregation. Now boasting ten thousand members, this mega-church was deemed the fastest-growing Presbyterian church in the country. Home to Kennedy's Coral Ridge Ministries, the architecture alone is worth looking into.
The eighty-thousand-square-foot complex now houses a huge congregation hall, a stage, a kitchen and nursery, a 300-seat chapel, a music rehearsal hall, and a library. In addition, the Church also houses a major television studio from which Kennedy televises his weekly program, The Coral Ridge Hour. Visitors should call ahead for information about scheduled services or touring the facility.
