Popular with locals but off the beaten path for tourists, Casa D'Angelo is definitely worth a taxi ride from the hotel for visitors in search of a truly delectable dining experience. Though located in the unlikely spot of a strip mall, owner-chef Angelo Elia has managed to create an elegant Tuscan-style restaurant that showcases his Northern Italian cuisine and has made his establishment one of the most respected in the area.
The food isn't flashy, just superbly prepared in oak ovens and presented artistically on the plate. House favorites include pappardelle with porcini mushrooms, salmon carpaccio, a calamari and scungilli salad with garlic and lemon, and daily oven-roasted seafood specials. Guests can spy into the open kitchen as they pore over the superlative wine list or savor the zabaglione. Due to the restaurant's popularity, visitors should call ahead for reservations.
