The Scenic Skyride at the Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff allows visitors a unique opportunity to get a bird's eye view of the whole of Northern Arizona... from an elevation of 11,500 feet!
Visitors are shuttled atop this majestic extinct volcano, from where they can view over 70 miles of the Arizona panorama, which includes spectacular views of the Grand Canyon and traverses to downtown Flagstaff. There's plenty more to do once you're at the summit. Hiking enthusiasts can explore the miles of trails which extend through the untamed wilderness, while wildlife observers can feast their eyes on the array of fauna that is native to this region. And any questions that you might have about the biology and geology will be answered immediately and enthusiastically by the Forest Interpretative Specialist.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons host the popular Snowbowl Ranger Talks which provide you a unique insight into the flora, fauna, geology and history of the San Francisco Peaks. The Skyride takes about 25 minutes each way and can get pretty drafty, so ensure that you carry appropriate clothing to keep you warm.
You can hop on to the Scenic Skyride from 10 am to 4 pm, all through the week in the period between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. From Labor Day to mid-October, the Skyride is operational on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Tickets are priced at $6 per person, with special discounts for groups, children and seniors. What's more, if you happen to visit on your birthday, you are presented a free Skyride! Tuesdays also feature discounted rates, where you can buy two tickets for the price of one. If you plan to visit in a group of 15 or more, you can even arrange for a boxed lunch to munch on during your visit, which includes a Deli Sandwich, cookies and juice.
