Hotel Monte Vista in Flagstaff, AZ
The Hotel Monte Vista was originally built in 1926 and opened its doors on January 1st the following year just one block north of Route 66. Located in the historic downtown area of Flagstaff the hotel is surrounded by dozen of shops, bars and restaurants and is central to the bus and train stations.
The hotel boasts 50 rooms and suites, all of which provide patrons with cable TV and telephone services, a shower and/or a bath and opulent decoration. All rooms also have beautiful views of Flagstaff and the largest rooms are named after some of the famous people who have stayed at the hotel over the years including Bing Crosby, John Wayne, Anthony Hopkins and Jon Bon Jovi.
Within the hotel you will find the Monte Vista cocktail lounge and a new addition called Rendezvous. The lounge is split into two floors with the lower floor offering live music, karaoke and DJs to wile the night away while the upper floor is given over to a billiards lounge. Happy hour is 4pm-7pm and there are daily drinks specials on offer to patrons. If cocktails and billiards are not for you then Rendezvous offers coffee and desserts during the day and Martini drinks in a romantic atmosphere by night. It also has wireless internet for those who need it.
One of the main attractions of the Hotel Monte Vista however are the numerous ghosts that haunt the rooms and corridors. These include the Phantom Bellboy as seen by John Wayne, the Dancing Couple, the Bank Robber and a wide variety of poltergeists.
