The Old Elevator Restaurant and Wine Bar in Fernie, British Columbia is located on 1st Street in this beautiful, historic town. The Old Elevator Restaurant is open seasonally, but provides exceptional quality foods and wines. The location has been open and running since the 1980's providing some of the most award winning foods and wines for nearly every year of the last decade. The setting is unique, beautiful and relaxing. The food is creative and flavorful. What's more, they offer one of the largest and highest quality wine collections available.
The restaurant itself is actually in a restored grain feed store that was first built in 1908. You will see the original elevator and loft that was used then in the dining room today, although the dining room is a very beautifully designed. For those looking for a private dining experience, there are two rooms that can be used. There is also a warm and gentle fireside lounge to enjoy. This is the wine bar and a good place to sit for a glass of wine and perhaps an appetizer prior to your dinner.
The menu is full of creative foods and homemade desserts. Many products are fresh and seasonal. There are often specials that help to lower prices. Appetizers include smoked duck, caramelized pear and gorgonzola tart or a spring mix salad. Steaks include a strip Loin Steak, a rib steak at 16 ounces and a beef tenderloin. Pepper bison tenderloin, char grilled scarlet salmon, and roasted summer vegetable salad are a few of their entrees.
